Earth and Water

Welcome to my portfolio site, Earth and Water, where I showcase my range of design work. From landscape design to stormwater management, I am dedicated to creating sustainable and functional designs that enhance our built and natural environments - always with a focus towards planning and designing the future for resiliency in our changing world.

Portfolio

Landscape Design for MWDOC Turf Replacement

A comprehensive landscape design plan for ABC Park that includes a walking trail, playground, and picnic area. The design also incorporates sustainable features such as rain gardens and permeable pavement.

3D Modeling for The Resort

I created a 3d model to assist with the promotional purposes of the developer of nearby homes, developing it from construction plans into a fully immersible 3d model with Sketchup and Lumion.

CDBG HUD Commercial Sign Assistance Program

I developed this brochure for the City of South Gate CDBG HUD Commercial Sign Assistance Program, as part of the preparation for the municipal code update of the Sign Ordinance - including revisions, graphic composition and distribution areas to help assist business owners with enrolling in the program to update their signs into compliance.

Nine Mile Creek Conservation Council GIS Study

At the request of the Nine Mike Creek Conservation Council, I compiled and created a GIS map of parcels that should be prioritized for purchase and conservation in regard to their soil erosion and habitat impact vulnerability. This included analyzing the existing parcel metadata, crossreferencing and verifying it - culminating in a presentation to the Nine Mile Creek Conservation Council.

A representation of the Aerobic/Anaerobic pollutant removal potentials of pairing shallow water treatment wetlands (aerobic processes) with retention ponds (anaerobic processes), visually illustrating the chemical reactions and synergy when the water bodies are designed as part of the same system.

Wetland Reconstruction in Hector New York

A wetland reconstruction project in Hector, New York I helped design and construction, showing during construction, after completion, and a year after completion shown sequentially above.

About Me

I am Robert L Stelmach, a multi-disciplinary designer focused on landscape design, 3D modeling, graphic design, stormwater management, and wetland mitigation/delineation. With over 8 years of experience in a wide range of design fields and a Master's of Landscape Architecture, I have worked on many different types of projects of varying scale and complexity, from private residential, commercial, stormwater management, wetland mitigation/restoration, and even municipal planning, zoning, and code writing.

Ultimately, in all things, I am focused on designing and planning for the future. My aim is to create designs that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and functional - and all of them are based around or will involve the movement of Earth and Water.
